Educate yourselves as much as possible...it will open up opportunities for you...allowing you to be able to choose from among the best choices possible.
As you leave high school, make choices that will reward you far into the future. Find your passion and educate yourself to be excellent in your work. If you enjoy what you get paid for, it will not feel like "work" at all.
Greatness is not a function of circumstance...it is largely a matter of conscious choice, and discipline." - Jim Collins, 2005, "Good to Great" MAY 4, 2009 2:22 PM
"do what you HAVE to do to do what you WANT to do"
May I add "do it now". There is no better time than the present to begin the "conquer" of your goals and to build the life you dream of. Your minds are sharp and fresh with learning. Take advantage of the momentum and never look back. MAY 4, 2009 12:40 PM
If you are unsure of what you want to study, perhaps attend a Jr. college or community college to take generals and classes that interest you. You will probably get better grades and have more fun. Then set a goal to decide what career you will choose as soon as possible. The sooner you know which direction you are going, the easier it will be to get there. MAY 5, 2009 6:15 PM
Make a list of goals that you want to accomplish and when. Then prioritize your list so that you accomplish the things that are most important to you. MAY 5, 2009 6:17 PM
Dear Graduates, First, my congratulations. Here is a little advice for you.
Make no bones about it, enormous change is upon us, change in all of our environments: societal, economic, natural, spiritual. There has never been a more exciting time to be alive; there are almost unlimited opportunities for growth.
Choose to pay close attention to those forces that influence you, for how you deal with those forces may very well make or break you; celebrate the good, reject the evil.
Accept active responsibility for your own life, accept active responsibility for your part in others’ lives, here on this Earth – we are all connected by the same energy.
Keep God ever present, keep your family and friends close. Make a point of doing this.
The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of ATTITUDE on life. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding that ATTITUDE we will embrace for that day. We can not change our past... we can not change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We can not change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play it on the one string we have, and that is our ATTITUDE...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES!
ATTITUDE is a little thing that makes a BIG difference
You've done a good thing getting to this point. Keep it going! Don't neglect the little things. To acheive great things you have to be willing to do the little things every day that matter. A hero can be anyone who sacrifices for the good of others or accomplishes important things through determination and commitment. That may be simply the decision to get a good job and take good care of your children when the time comes. It may be to find a cure for cancer. It may be to love someone who feels left out or alone. It may mean to become an architect. It may be to get married and fight for happiness and commit to stay together and always work things out. It may mean even though you don't feel like it, being kind and forgiving. You have gifts and abilities unique only to you. Use them for good. Leave the world a better place than it was when you found it. Think of the heroes who have influenced you in your life and pass it on. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Don't think you are done yet. You have just started. There are many more obstacles to overcome and many great things to accomplish.
